Planes. Trains. Vans. Pedalos. Maybe even that fantasy steed you keep in your Notes app. We are on the hunt for tiny stories that encapsulate the rush of the road, sky or sea.
There aren’t many conceptual stipulations, aside from the fact that your character/s must be driving or riding in or on something. Whether that’s a steampunk zeppelin or an actual punk piece of shit Ford Fusion, we’re not precious about it. The rest is up to you. It’s a flash piece, so you could describe a scene in a passenger seat, a shocking stop-off, a tragic disco on a cruise liner or a griffin trampling towards dinner. Take us on a trip with your imagination.
It’s a flash contest, so we’re going to be short and sweet with the deadline, too. Ready? Here are the rules:
- The entry fee is $2.
- The Grand Prize is $50.
- Up to 2 Runner-ups will win $10.
- Your flash piece must not have been published elsewhere.
- We’ll feature the winning article on our homepage, newsletter and socials.
- SMPLE will contact anyone who excites us about future collaboration or paid contributions.
