Like a hammer it destroys, with timing unplanned.
My heart like shattered glass
this weight of sorrow I will never understand.
Like a ruinous tempest it refuses to pass.
This lighting and thunder increases,
denial, anger, depression.
I’m left to pick up the pieces
while you sit watching from Heaven.
How do you heal a broken heart?
How can I bring you back?
Your memories like abstract art
but it’s frame has been cracked.
Tears stain the paint,
colors run like blood.
Joy has never felt so faint
as everyone attempts to hold onto what was.
But amidst the sorrow,
amidst the shattered glass,
While trying to find watercolors to borrow
in an effort to paint you back…
I can see your smile in the sunset
I can see it in the stars
Your joy emanates in the oranges, pinks, and reds
It radiates like fireflies in jars
You dance with your Designer
on roads paved with gold.
And while desire to bring you back burns like a fire,
I know you’re discovering divine secrets untold.
Now, I will leave you to rest,
but before I go
there’s something I haven’t addressed
that I would like you to know.
You were so loved,
and you had so much strength.
And as you watch from above
I hope you know that your memory will never fade.
You may never know
The impact you had
The hearts you touched
Now all shattered like glass
