No Savior

The world unraveled at her feet
...so it seemed
With cracks that sprout and split the ground
With fewer places left to stand

And there she stood
Just beyond a crumbling canyon
The heavy weight it could not take
Lost in fear that she too would break

Seemingly, so suddenly
She slipped through sliced soil
And for a moment, no sound could break through
The air condensed, with vibrations that could burst the skin

Perhaps the tears just weren't enough
Unable to keep her afloat
To protect her from the rocky bottom
And far away from it's razor-edged sides

Suspended, stuck in this moment
Can't let it lie
You could not save her
Miss catcher in the rye
