Settle, Settle, Settle,

You vast sea.
Settle settle,
restless one.
You hear that quick pitter patter of your eager heart?
Settle settle settle

And let that sun kissed salty coated waxy skin
set you free in your young flesh.
Relish in your youth.
As you mindlessly eat through a bag of pears
after pears,
                          on the dock,
only minding yourself for a moment, and your mortality…

before returning
to your salt spun kinks
the soft hairs between your thighs
the tuft between your chest
tuft residing between the dimples on your back
mosquito bitten ankles that sting with sea
and your vulnerable skin prey to that beating sun,

before hiding behind the clouds again,
like a shadow that always follows,
reminding you in settle still moments like these,
that like the ocean tide changing ever so quickly,

this moment too shall pass.
And your youth shall pass.

And suddenly the moment of stillness is gone and the pitter patter of my eager heart quickens again, anxious for the sea to sweep me and take me into my next moment.

But for a moment,
you settled.
