Hey y'all! My name's Kaela Cordero. I'm an artist based in Toronto, Canada.
I've been studying the French language intently since the 5th grade (shoutout to Ontario's Extended French program) and have continued well into my 20's. Last spring, I had the opportunity to study with the Explore program at the Université du Québec à Montréal. During that time, I wrote a poem for my exam and turned the lines into the verse of a song. There are a handful of grammatical faults, but the song's heart is all there.
The lyrics are as follows:
Mais la chaleur
L’espoir sorti de son lit
Repandu dans tout mes entrees
Pendant que tu m’eblouis
J’suis sortie hier soir
Avec un chanteur que j’ai vu au bar
Il m’a achèté un boisson
Un "baiser sur le plage”
Il m’a donné son numéro
Maintenant, c’est tous que je pense à propos
On a promené à son apartement
Sur la rue St-Urbain
Ça serra un secret
Il ne voulu pas tenir ma main
Écris moi un chanson cheri
Avec les paroles desquels décrirent
De l’amour
De la douleur
De l’ame
Je me promesse moi-meme que je ne tomberai pas amoureuse
Je lui ai deja juré
Que nous ne tomberons pas amoureux
Mais il a joué sur mes cordes de coeur
J’ai brisé ma promesse
Pire, j’suis captivé
De t’aimer encore encore
On va nous aimer encore encore
T’es chaleureux

ABOUT KAELA CORDERO:
Kaela Cordero is an emerging performer and playwright based in Toronto. She majors in Playwriting and Production Design at York University. Selected credits: Apprentice Electrician (Ruby and the Well S1 - Shaftesbury/NABET), Quiet Revolution (AMY Project - Canadian Stage/Summerworks), GIRLS/GIRLS/BOYS (TIFF Jumpcuts), Distress Signals (Kid's Help Phone), Spring Moon (Mixed Theatre Company), Evita & Cabaret (Scarborough Music Theatre), One Song Glory (Musical Stage Company), Collapse (Carlos Bulosan Theatre Company), Sweet Charity (Mainstage Theatre Company).
