im kris devadasi, a london based musician, inspired by the lulling twang of 20s ragtime jazz and the drowsy blues that were born from it, my music evokes the realities of grief synthesised through poetry and melody in emotionally-crippling ‘odes’ imbued with dark themes on the abuse of power over childhood, death and the shifting throes of melancholy. my lyricism is reminiscent of earlier muses of poetry, including the likes of sylvia plath, lana del rey and the swinging tunes of the late amy winehouse. my hope is to inspire and fascinate people with the ability to transform tragedy into beauty through music and melody
