LIO - The Music Film

LIO - The Music Film is a double feature music video project for singles ‘Win’ and ‘Night Vision’ by houston-raised artist LIO, directed by Anjini Taneja Azhar, and shot by Roger Cruz. The film begins with ‘Win’ an ironic yet grounded video about a young dreamer (LIO) working a dead-end job, rapping about feeling those wins. ‘Win’ leads us into LIO’s ultimate fever dream, the second half of the Music Film: ‘Night Vision.’ The visuals for ‘Night Vision’ are sleek, stylistic, and expressive of what LIO could be in his wildest aspirations for freedom and lifestyle — but with a strange supernatural twist that reveals itself at the end. The double feature music film is a testament to dedicated and resourceful filmmaking as director Anjini Taneja Azhar and shooter Roger Cruz team up to bring sophisticated creative to a guerrilla style shoot.
Ever since I was seven, I would sit at my parents’ giant clunky desktop computer, open a blank document, and start writing. Parallel to this, I grew a deep adoration for cinema, and ventured through the entertainment industry, starting off as an actor with roles from small with independent films such as Smashed by James Ponsoldt to large productions such as Star Trek Into Darkness by JJ Abrams and HBO's The Brink with Jack Black. In 2015, I decided to combine my love for cinema with my childhood passion to write. I have directed, written, and produced multiple short films that have gone on to festivals around the world, been published in Forbes Magazine, WomenCinemaker Magazine in Europe, directed and written corporate videos for both non-profits and some of the world’s biggest companies, and won awards from renowned festivals such as Hollyshorts Film Festival, Los Angeles International Screenplay Awards, and IndieFest Film Awards for her written screenplays, and created music videos for talented artists. In 2020, I started my own production company: A Ghost Story. At the very beginning of 2021, I wrapped co-writing a screenplay for my first studio feature film, currently out in the market for sales. Film is a sacred thing to me, my soulmate, my one-true-love, and my work is driven by this romance. I hope everything I touch becomes a powerful story that reminds its audience of the beauty in the tragedies and triumphs of this life that we live.
