Her Heart

A lost soul, they tore out her heart a long time ago.
In a jar, her heart has remained alongside all the others,
like a trophy to be admired.
But it has since been forgotten, and now the jar is cloudy with dust.
The cupboard is cold and dark.
Now, she wants her heart back.
Tired of the emptiness and the sorrow, she can see her heart is still beating inside the jar, so she removes it with care.
Then she places it back where it belongs,
from pain to power, her heart sings a song.
Now the past is gone.
