blossom

she was all alone.
the darkness was what she knew.
they showed her the light.
the misfits and bandits brave enough to bare their souls to the world with no shame.
unafraid.
like a rainbow after a storm they are unapologetic.
she is apologetic more than she would like to admit.
she wishes she could scream to the world “i am more than this”, but the minute she plucks up the courage her throat betrays her and it’s a perpetual cycle of silence.
they are unabashed full of pride waving their hands in the air like they just don’t care.
she feels alone.
head down unsure of herself, but they keep facing her toward the sun encouraging her to show off her true self.
they shout, “bloom with grace and wilt on occasion, but never doubt that the sun knows exactly when to shine and show off the many colors of each and every petal you’ve managed to grow up until now.”
they scream “society has locked you in a box and it’s time to break out.”
they cry, “you shouldn’t be afraid to sparkle.”
and it is in this moment she finds solace in the people around her and sprouts from the dirt she’s been buried under this whole time.

just a girl in love with european cities, 90s fashion, eating tons of food, 00s movies, drinking lattes, dogs, & red lipstick.
