The privilege to not be without
The privilege to grow up isolated // in ignorance
The privilege know not, even when the bomb goes off

To be shielded from the blast
To be shielded from the rioting, looting // shattered glass
To be shielded, even as a hail of bullets surrounds you and reveals the cracks in your foundation 

To only watch the streets of blood
To only watch the terror on screen // warfare on the streets
To only watch, as a picture in all black is now viewed as “progressive”, and “helping the cause”

To live through history without experiencing it
To live while your nation as a whole awakens // unto death
To live under the boot of a removable oppression, never poached for your skin
