The moon reflects it's light against his skin
Makes him seem so much more beautiful then he's every been
So alive
So breathtaking
It's the way his skin shines
Full of life and a future that seems too far but it's alright
Mama tells him that hard work and a little prayer would make everything seem clearer
Make their futures come sooner
Black boys look blue under the moon light
As they lay on blood stained concrete for the first and last time
As it sucks up the last bits of this dear boy of mine
Selfish men take his breath away
Steal it and add it to there collection
Of black boys that just wouldn't stop resisting
Wouldn't listen
So they had to kill him
The moon
Still shines even on the worst nights
It's light hits his skin
Color drained
Left with only the bullet that ripped through him
No more future
No more nights cause he won't dream
And mama cries as she notices all her words will only ever be lies
As the world takes the life from her dead boys eyes
Black boys look blue under the moon light
Black boy
Said that dark nights are never dark enough to take away the sunrise
But for him
The sun won't shine
He doesn't get a second life
To see if mama words were really right
Black boys
Are only every recognized when it comes to crimes
Only ever picked first when it comes to jail cells that are assigned to them at birth
Only ever shine when they get the chance to
So our black boys will only ever shine in the moonlight
Makes him seem so much more beautiful then he's every been
So alive
So breathtaking
It's the way his skin shines
Full of life and a future that seems too far but it's alright
