Encroaching Fear

This is a painting I created that represents how fear was/is constantly circling my mind and encroaching on my life. I manipulated a photo of the painting in photoshop to further explore how fear can distort reality

Below is a poem reflecting on fear and its impact on my life

The Truth About Fear

Fear is a true friend
Always there to hold you
Even if you don’t want to be held

Fear is a toxic lover
Constantly berating you
Even when you hold your head high

Fear is a good coach
Pushing you forward
On the toughest days

That’s why
Fear is my constant drive
Sometimes it’s the only thing
That can keep me alive

Because
It pushes me
It furthers me
It makes me scared to fail
It forces me to keep going

But it hinders me too
It makes me wonder
What could I ever do?
What will ever come my way?
Where will I ever go?

Force fear to fear you
And the inherent power you have
Because fear is encroaching
And won’t stop
