Hello! My name is Shakira, but I’m known artistically as Sleepy Girl. I was born and raised in what I like to call “Middle of Nowhere” North Carolina. I’m a self-taught multimedium artist who enjoys expressing her emotional whims through colorful and visually appealing drawings. I have been an artist for well over ten years, taking commissions, doing murals, and participating in pop ups and arts events. I specialize in landscapes and skin, and thoroughly enjoy creating beautiful women and seemingly magical places. I am well versed in acrylic and oil paints, art markers, pastels, colored pencils and a few other mediums. I also sew, sing, sculpt, write  and make resin art. I grew up watching Bob Ross and painting has always held a big part of my art, but I am a creative and a creator in every sense of the word. I’d love to work in animation, or as a character designer for a video game or tv show, but sense I’m so versed in so many things, I really just want the opportunity to be able to create to my heart’s content. My dream and goal is to one day own my own creative studio to hold exhibits and events in that feature other growing and known artists in my community and beyond!
