Sonnet to my Lover

You asked what I had thought about that night
And I just stared into your eyes and smiled,
For how could I express beauty in sight
Without imperfect image then defiled?
Instead I asked if ever you had tracked
How many twinkling stars litter the sky
While knowing dawn will come before the fact,
But you just shrugged and gave to me a sigh.
Your eyes gaze galaxies I crave to know,
Both gently traced by your freckled constellations.
They ache for passion, beaming grin aglow,
This moonlit home alive with our flirtations.
I wish that I could give all love you crave
But I rather not your good heart deprave.
