Swimming

There’s a place down by the coast
The road is narrow and windy,
and for much of the drive you wonder
is it going to be the last one?
But when you get there, you see
a goat, chewing grass by the side of the mountain
giant pebbles, whiter than light
And the sea, reflecting the sunrays and smell of thyme
I jump in, and my body cries
Every thought washes away,
back to the shore
back to the other pebbles, softened by salt
Gliding in the water, feeling perfectly still
Weightless
Awake
