Escapism

You can plan a get away for twenty odd quid
Don’t say it ain’t true, I know someone who did!
He said it was the best place he ever could be
First travelled there aged thirty three
He’s been ten thousand times and says it’s still worth the money
But when he goes there, he acts a bit funny
People are hateful of his little paradise
His kids don’t like it, mother, nor wife
It’s cos they think he’s gonna visit there, for the rest of his life
There’s a quick way to get there without a bus, car or plane
You gotta inject it and let it run through your veins
He can travel the world, 45 seconds to a minute
Makes him feel so alive, why would he ever bin it?
He lets the music take him to another dimension
To get stuck in this dimension was not his intention
But he loves it so much, wants to live there forever
Floatin’ along, as light as a feather
The weights off his shoulders, cos he’s put it on yours
Phones switched off, won’t answer the door
Please don’t pop his bubble
He swears there’ll be trouble
If he can’t get the money
He’ll burn the house down to rubble
One day he‘ll buy a one way ticket, that knows no return
Silly old man, when will he learn?
Cant get there by boat
But he sure loves to float
But he don’t like to brag
He don’t like to gloat
Cant be proud of the way he gets high
When he steals from his family just to get by
He doesn’t like it here
That’s why he goes away
To the swirly land of wonder
That he calls his escape
West Midlands based poet!
