Skipping Stone

Let it be this path between us shares
A familiar softness, filled with cares
Born out of that skipping stone
That we had thrown and the wind had blown

Intermittent but unflinching across the lake

We're in the air now, say that it is true
That's where this distance I feel from you
Hails from, falls like icy stares
That don't seem burdened by repairs

The fixes we need to undertake

We'll touch back down, path re-charted
And I'll fell so silly for feeling parted
From the one I sail with, fly with
Hopping along with all we've to give

Still there's a worry I can't shake

That in this stepping stone commitment
Forgiveness became our main equipment
Rather than a heart of love
Our symbol is the peaceful dove

So scared are we for war to break.

How many chances do I have left?
How many do you?
How many skips holds the skipping stone
That one that we had thrown askew?

Has it already drowned?
