Leeds Scene

These images are a selection from my on going photography project based around Rap/grime artists in the city of Leeds in the UK.

The project aims to capture the cultural aesthetics and energy produced by the artists at these underground events I have been attending. The abundance of confidence and ability shown by the artists I have photographed has inspired the start and continuation of my project. As their confidence has grown so has mine with my camera. I've felt like I have been able to get closer in proximity to the artists where I have had the opportunity to experiment with angles and varied compositions, allowing for a deeper understanding  of intimacy between photographer and subject.  Its interesting to compare how two forms of expression can influence each other in a positive way. I suppose the combination of music and photography is currently the most inspiring area of investigation for me right now alongside my studies.

I also believe there is some serious talent coming through these types of  events that not everyone has access to. I want my photography to bridge the path between performers and viewers.
