Forgetful

Am I the
Serpent
Slowly drifting
Between the legs
Of unwitting
Fools
Venom dripping
Down my lips
Numb
Never having
Sunk these fangs
Into anything but
My own
Cheeks

Stop talking
Paralyzed

Am I the
Reptile
Who mistook
My legs for
Imaginary wings
Figments of
My mind
With no clue that
I am not
Broken
Just forgetful

Just forgetful

Forgetful

Cannot forget
Cannot lie
Talented at ignoring
My own transparency

Fingers splayed
In the wind
Take me away
Before I discover
What suit
I am wearing

Fantastical minds
Know no walls
Only iridescent
Waterfalls
Make this nest
A home

Feed me
Your last supper
I have been
Surviving on
Smiles
That never quite
Touch eyes
And laughter
That retches

Barely concealed
Famine
