She Rides to The Sea and She Doesn’t Ride Back

Her tires run across the sidewalk like ribbed paratroopers / thoughts run across Her lungs / like a pack of wild horses / Her thighs / are getting / thick / from all of Her biking / or from standing for so long / (or withstanding for so long) / when She was younger / you could touch your pinky to your thumb / around even the fleshiest part of Her leg / so lean / they said / a model / a stick / but sticks snap / and so She pushes Herself another mile for another pound of muscle / She wants the legs of / a carriage leader / or a wild mare / She wants legs made to pulse / not cross over each other / politely / or stand collapsible like ornate glass / lean sounds too much like leave quietly / don’t take up too much space / sounds kinda like skinny girls don’t make / ripples / in the water / and when She jumps into the ocean / to take / Her last breath / She wants the fish to hear / her coming / She wants the birds / to hear / Her falling / She wants to make a / splash / before She sinks.
