Show us your eye on the world. For SMPLE’s first Film Fest, we’d like to see how you tackle subjects out your window, down the street, across a car seat or halfway up a mountain. This is an open call for short documentary submissions, helping the ordinary feel strange or the extraordinary reach closer to home.
The festival will be open for entry until 21 June 2022 (first day of summer). Our team will make the final selection, but SMPLE community members will also be given a chance to vote for their favorite submissions. The top film will receive a permanent home on the official SMPLE Film Festival Feature site (coming soon), and we’ll contact you for an interview. You will also be featured across all our print and online channels. Then next year, you’ll be invited to attend our follow-up event - a physical festival with sponsors, a prize and entertainment. You’ll also be asked to judge submissions for 2023.
Whatever genre or technique you tackle - travelogue, interviews, news footage, a day in the life - just make it compelling from start to finish. Take a video from your YouTube channel that’s still a highlight. Or film something from scratch, adding a voiceover in your best Louis Theroux. Take friends on board or go solo. Head into the world. Build footage from your bedroom. We want to know what a documentary means to you, in all of its peculiarities. However, we do have a few rules . . .
This is a chance to get noticed and find like-minded people for other projects. Tens of thousands of users will view your work. With our promotional powers and strong community, there’s no telling where you might end up. Read the rules below and surprise us.
