saferinthecity - Heavy Metal Goodbye

saferinthecity is indie pop writer/producer Harry Paynter, 18, from Glastonbury, UK. His queer positive expresion combined with his left-of-centre pop sound, influenced by the likes of Nina Nesbitt and Greyson Chance, is the central focus of his single and music video Batshit Crazy - a song penned as a letter to himself drawing upon self acceptance & appreciation. Batshit Crazy will shortly be followed with the single (and focus of this submission) 'Heavy Metal Goodbye' - an ambient explosion of reflection and rumination upon time and nostalgia.

Growing up as an identical twin and an LGBTQ+ member has informed saferinthecity‘s writing, taking on a flamboyant and personal sense of self to stage. His music has been featured on BBC South West and numerous local stations. He will be taking his music to the Paul McCartney founded LIPA later this year as he furthers his creative practice.

'Heavy Metal Goodbye' is a ballad built on experimentation and synth layers. The lyrics long for the past and ponders upon past innocence - 'could you be my Marley, and haunt me 'til I'm good again?' - an apt reference to Charles Dickens's novella A Christmas Carol, a piece of literature that marked Paynter's teenage years as a point of study at school. 'Heavy Metal Goodbye' revolves around saferinthecity's fascination with time, past and present.

Heavy Metal Goodbye is out on all platforms 25th June.
