Relationships are what makes life agonizing, harrowing and beautiful. Here, we can be seen at our most vulnerable. Often society paints a homogenous picture of relationships; monogamous, heterosexual, conventional. This standard has been ensconced into society, and thankfully people, namely my peers, are starting to push back. I’ve experienced relationships looking straight, sideways, curly, inside out, you name it. These photos show unconventional relationships, a threesome on a beach? 4am in the back of a car between a visiting long distance partner, and a best friend? A one-night dalliance, or perhaps a souring long-term relationship? The ambiguous nature of these photographs are necessary, leaving room here for the viewer to insert their own narrative. Through these photos, I wish to document the curly fries of relationships, and show that no matter how relationships look they are consistently harrowing and beautiful.
