"Rage Wave"

We prepped for about a month before we shot the short film. My close friends had already heard the song so when I approached my director with my storyboard for Rage Wave she was ecstatic to draft up the script. From there, she came up with an insane screenplay and soon after I reached out to the cast, DP, and dancers. We ended up filming it in two days. We shot the first scenes on Halloween morning at this small theater in Holywood and the rest we filmed the following day in Downtown La and Culver City. I always laugh when people ask that question. Thanassis is okay! He was a consenting trooper for those days that we filmed. So thankful for him because, I don't know another man that would be that chill with me walking him on a leash and stuffing him into the trunk of a small BMW. Conceptually, the idea came from the title of the song honestly. It's called Rage Wave so, I wanted to explore what those waves of rage would look like utilizing different styles of cinema and the tropes that are commonly associated with the different genres. The first style was Musical Theater because I live for a cell block tango moment and I felt like it fit the theme of the song and hints at some foreshadowing. The second style was film noir. Within that scene, we utilized the Femme Fatal trope with the poisoned drink, lighting shift, and font change. The third sequence was Reality TV and we used the formatting, costumes, and fake fight and confessional scene to convey that one. The fourth was horror and we wanted it to feel kind of AHS-coven-like. I had the all-black lingerie, blood-red color contacts, and a man on a leash.  Lol real psycho but sexy vibes.
