Planting needs,
Sowing false seeds
Feeding toxic beliefs,
Pleads
Keeping knees keen,
For my self esteem
Carving walls
To cave in
Peeling plaster
Shaving fibres
that don’t muster,
Clutching debris
in a cluster,
Catch me falling
Or flying
My eyes
don’t lie,
can’t deny
the heights
I try
and climb from
Falls and gaps
so tall
I’ve been crawling
in the cracks
feeling the flaws
of the floor
And I taste
all that is cast
and cast away,
It is plenty
of pleasure
and pain.
In envy
of each
nuanced
triumph
in morsels
of clay,
melting in
sinking sands
Clutching Earth’s flesh
with every breath,
rolling waves
water forms
and ripples
Taking every
shape,
small,
and gain
Filling vessels
asking,
“Do I carry my body
or
does my body
carry me?”
Brain electricity
Infuses elasticity
To think
To feel
Taste
Smell
And touch breezes,
Listen
to sirens
and swallows
For all your
grief
your toil
struggle
and fear
it’s a blessing
to be here.
