water wings

swim, kick, breathe you way
to the bottom
your pockets heavy
leading you down
sit
buoy
a little up, a little down
rhythm
displace the water with your arms
flap backwards
arms       up,    up,   up
glide you down
weighed down
hold your breath
hold
lungs ache
let loose little bubbles
from cold lips
hold
OK, now
turn out your pockets
pump, kick, wing your way
to the sky
