The carpenter

The bible tells us that all the things Jesus did on earth before he ascended in to heaven that not even all the books in the world can hold. So I let my imagination and salvation run away with me. In this story a woman invites Jesus to her house to do home improvements.

One day young woman was at the marketplace. She was there to buy basics household items. She started a conversation with a local carpenter. She told him about some much needed home improvements she needed to address soon. The carpenter agreed to do an estimate the next day. Upon arriving he introduced himself as JC. She told him her name was Lily. She showed him all the things that needed the repairs or to be replaced all together.  He agreed to come by everyday until all of the work was done. She was happy with his estimate and agreed. The next day while the JC was working Lily had to run some errands. He told her that he would lock up when he was done. When she returned she discovered not only had he locked the front door but the door to her makeshift craft room/office. Frustrated that he would lock but he put a padlock on it so only he would have the key. She would have to wait until morning to ask him why he locked it.

JC was early this morning and Lily was glad. She asked him why did he put a padlock on the door. He told her that he had to do special renovations on that room and that the end product would be a surprise. Lily was not happy about this. "How would I get my work done, I have a quilt to finish and one that I need to put together. My customer is waiting for her quilt" she complained. JC asked her, "please trust me"? Still unsure Lily agreed.

JC had been working on Lily's house for two weeks. Everyday she would ask about the craft room and everyday he would tell her, soon. Nothing more nothing less just soon. About a month in Lily had run out of patience. Give me the key she demanded. No JC responded and continue to work on the house. He thought if I give Lily something to do everyday she won't think about the room so much. Go get some nails was the first request he made. He asked her to get a special hammer from a store an hour away. He told her he like to eat fish from a little shop about twenty miles from the hardware store. She told him she would be back soon.

With Lily gone for awhile JC unlocked the door. He went in. Being Both God and man. He could see the years Lily had spent there praying for customers. Then taking on so much of a workload that she would get frustrated. He saw the late night projects, sweat, the tears, pricked fingers. All so that she could make an honest living. She was a nice  lady. But she was bitter about her childhood, regretful about past relationships and unsure if she is living her life's purpose. JC had to make improvements here special.

When Lily returned she found the house was complete. And to her surprise the door to the craft room was open. She called for JC. "I have the hammer and the fish",she said. I see the house is finished everything looks wonderful. JC only nodded at her approval. Lily didn't like his silence. "Is something wrong?" she asked. He took her by the hand and lead her to the room.

While you out getting the things I needed and the things that I liked. I was in here working on this room. Lily looked around but everything looked the same. Impatient she looked frustrated. But you haven't done anything in here I have let down customers. I'm late starting projects. How will I recover for the lost time? She begin to cry.

" I asked you to trust me JC said. You agreed for me to do the improvements on your home I did just that. This room needed special work done because this is the room you shed secret tears, the room you pray in the most. The room where you relive your childhood where innocence was taken too soon. This is the room where the love of your life left you for dead after he thought he beat you to death. I have come to heal all that".

Lily looked up and said " but you're only a carpenter how do you know all that who sent you here? Someone sent you to ruin me to stop my work and take my money so I would have nothing. I knew you were too good to be true".

JC responded " I am the way the truth and the life. You invited me here. I am here to do the work you need. I have come that you may have life and life more abundantly. Let not your heart be troubled you believe in God also believe in me.

Lily realized that her heart was being changed. She surrendered and accepted Jesus as her personal Savior that day. JC moved on to another home improvement job. But he send a comforter when she needs.
