Record Woman

She is the muse of Disco. Her hair is a clutter of records that make up the shape of the famous Afro hairstyle of the 60’s and 70’s.
Disco and the Afro were in fashion back in the day. But they also represented a renewed sense of identity in the African American community. The Civil Rights Movement played a large role in viewing the Afro as a beauty symbol amongst African Americans. Disco music was dominated by many African American artists, and created music that promoted love, peace, and good vibes. It also reinforced a sense of cultural pride and identity for the black community.
We love Disco music and how it makes us feel, and associate the Fro with entertainment. But the art of beauty and music go far beyond entertainment.
