Love n’ War

I recorded the original vocals for this song while sitting inside a PDX airport bathroom stall. I had just finished attending my close friend’s celebration of life and was waiting on my flight back to SLC. Amidst the grief I began writing words, words I composed in the attempt to combat the pain I was so deeply stuck in. I turned to the idea of growth and love, hoping that if I chose to focus on positivity and light that perhaps I could feel inside myself those same things. Self reflection brought to the forefront of my mind the growth I could see inside myself from when I was a little boy to the present. I continued festering with this idea until I imagined that if I could grow against all my past obstacles since I was a small, skinny, insecure boy, then I could also continue to grow through the emotional obstacles I felt presently.

I hope you enjoy listening to Love n’ War (the title is different from the cover as an ode to Frank ocean’s Blonde album) and I hope all the messages I’ve placed within find a comfortable place within your heads.
