Life's a Gas

Life’s A Gas was less precise and more fluid in its
assemblage. Moving away from the scalpel, I simply used
my hands to tear through the images. World of Interiors and
Journal were used as my source material. I used an A3
sketchbook as I wanted to work with larger scale images.
The centrepiece depicts a woman’s profile, she exhales
smoke and her head is framed with an oven. In the
background I included black and white images and the
ambiguous blue figure beneath her; one, to juxtapose and
emphasise her presence within the space and two, to
compliment the hues of blue and green.
