I hope you go to heaven, Mom

I hope you go to heaven, mom
Sorry I get bored and stop listening sometimes when you talk about your garden
I’m like that with everything
I really do think it looks like it’s out of a magazine this year
The sunflowers are my favorite.
I always hope you find some good books at the book sale
Or a really cool puzzle
Maybe I’ll get you one this year that we can do together.
No I don’t really forgive you for my childhood
All the fighting with dad and the shitty decisions I felt like you made
Like snapping at us kids
Or trying to keep me from seeing Wes
Or not leaving dad
But you probably want closure on all that as much as I do.
I like that we’re playing all the Nancy drew games in order
I hope we can keep doing that
I’ll call you in the morning to see when you want to play again
I’ve got a webcam now so you can see my face.
I hope you know what I’m trying to say with this poem
Maybe if we ever learn to communicate clearly I can just say it
But for now I hope this is good.
