The Girl With The Facade

Some people look messy on the outside.
Some people look beautiful on the outside.
Some people are just completely messed up on the inside.
And no one ever realises it.

There was once a girl who was smart and had a natural energy that just invited people in. She was witty, sarcastic, funny, slightly bossy, incredibly organised and always helped everyone. She was friends with the nerds, the jocks, the cheerleaders, the readers, the geek and that is if you wanted to put the people she met into categories. Everyone just somehow opened up to her. They came to her for advice, on love (a concept she didn't even believe in), on school, on friends and just the random day to day things. But everyone only ever saw the side of her that she let people see.

At night was the worst. Having to try to keep the tears in while her younger brother slept in the bed next to hers. Having to start wearing long sleeves or carefully place her left arm out of view. Her father was gone. Well that's what the rest of the family acted like. The pain was almost uncontrollable but no one ever saw.

They only saw the facade.
They only saw the happiness.
They only saw the playful anger.
They played off the gut feeling that something was wrong with her.
They never saw the grief.
The pain.
The suffering.
Only the stars knew the truth.
Only the sky.
Only her pillow.
Only her baby blanket.
Only she ever knew what was wrong.
It was incredibly messed up.
