Second-Try Cheesecake

On a day in August 2019, I baked my very first cheesecake -- only for it to crack the moment it exited the oven. Undeterred, I reassembled my supplies and whipped up another that very same week. This time, it was perfect. I set my round golden baby on the kitchen counter and snapped a shot, then two more when we ate it for breakfast the next morning. For me, these pictures capture the creamy taste of dairy on my tongue and the sweetness of success after failure. As it turned out, that day was National Cheesecake Day.
