From Graceland with Love

I wrote this for my partner's grandmother when it seemed that she might not be here much longer. She is a life long Elvis fan and took a trip to Graceland in her 60s (with a friend, as her husband died decades before). I think she's a wonderful woman and we both share a passion for the King.

Wise men say no corner of the world could hold this soul.
The king of rock and roll wouldn’t have it any other way.
Hands to hold, a woman, a girl,
Gold rings for each finger,
These blue suede shoes that tapped their way from continent to isle,
And down the aisle, it’s now or never,
Small mouths to feed, sweet hearts to love her tender.
A hard headed woman, the strongest love.
Was she lonesome that night,
When he went too soon?
But onwards, to the air, then way down, and to the air, my way,
‘If I can dream’, I’ll go to Graceland,
And so I send this card, with a teddy bear,
You’re always on my mind,
From Graceland, with love
