Releasing the Old Trauma Story

 We deserve Better.

At some point. We have to make the conscientious decision to heal.

The famous saying goes, “time heals all wounds”. That holds some truth, yet it doesn’t necessarily mean those wounds will just go away with the passing of time. Decide to tend to them. I mean I’m sure many can relate to this: something or someone hurts you or you’re frustrated but eventuallyyou get over it.Simply forgetting things isn’t enough and I’m sure as an accountable adult we realize that by now. Hopefully.

When you’re not intentional with your healing, trauma can remain stored in your body, and resentment can fester and linger within you.

I think it’s important to acknowledge that people fall short with their mental diet. Why does it seem so difficult to let go of the trauma story? For one, there’s not been enough time spent processing. More importantly, it is common for people to identity with their pain because it’s comfortable. And to be honest, it gives a sense of relatability or validation by having a sad story to tell. Be honest with yourself. Because you deserve better. Eventually you need to stop listening to the heartbreak songs that repeat the same toxicity. Or ruminating on the same pain of the past. And if you’re an artist, realize you don’t have to live in a broken state to produce something worthy. You’ve learned your lesson. Choose better now.
