Scavengers' Reincarnate

Leaf litter
tucks crimes
under its sleet
as snowcovers
and drifts away
two yards beneath
flash-frozen
half-thawed
blanketed stares
rotated about
the piles of
collected bets
on who's been
displaced

As
wheelbarrows
lurch

We outwork
daylight under
the table
in channeled hollow
limbs
         and swallow
                soot

                Secrets
     churning
closer
to stardust.  Born into
decay, I swallow galaxies
to spill their guts
Held together by folk songs and breakfast foods
