Power and Beauty

When I was 14 I went to the beach in Mexico.
I remember the push and the pull of the current when I was in her waters.
For a brief moment I wasn’t the one in control,
How could I be in control when I was in the hands of such raw power?
The currents took me under.
I burst up every time trying to catch my breath but the ocean,
She held no mercy towards me.
Her lack of kindness seeped into my lungs,
Fiery and relentless.
I almost died in the oceans hands.
Even with that, I still find her to be beautiful despite it.
