Secondary school heartbreak

As I stand on this street corner and dream
Of how our two roads meet, my memory
Of you comes flooding from it’s paper seam

Every car light flashes too bright. Every
Cell in my body aches as I pray
That I will see you again. One day.
Although the noises grow too loud, I stay
To figure out why you had to go away. The wind is cold,
The light is harsh without your shadow here

I’m beginning to lose faith, I need to hold
On. Cement under my feet is getting old
Or maybe what’s cracking is your heart of gold
