The Villains (a poem)

He burned for it
She bled for it
A girl killed for it
They’re leader suffered for it.

Two died and one lost his arm
Another dreamed
of what their world would become.

This hope was their drive
It’s what got them by
That one day the world would except them
And all those alike.

Two went to prison
Many were lost
There were still many wins
But at a great cost.

Another man,
I don’t know what happened
Some say he died,
Others say prison.

This whole world
It needed to change
And they were willing to change it.

There were risks
No one wanted to take
But they willing took them.

Decisions and sacrifices
No one wanted to make
So they willing made them.

They were the villains of many stories
They were the people for whom no one cared
But what no one saw
Were the lives that they changed
More for the better than anyone cares to say.

If they are the monsters
That we fear today
Then may we go put more monsters
In the “hero’s” way.
