Dixon Hill - Phaedrus

Dixon Hill has been making music and living out of his Van for close to a decade now. He has driven all over the country to find rare records, enjoy local eats, and take in the beauty of nature.

Hill's Phaedrus video chronicles a week long road trip from Rhode Island to Las Vegas with his dog Kuma. Time-lapse video, road-weary close-ups, and diner food create a frenetic collage encapsulating a whirlwind road trip across America. Hill shot, scored, and edited this video on the road while doing his favorite things: eating, dancing and record shopping.

The title, is a reference to Plato's concept of the Chariot in his dialogue "Phaedrus"

"First the charioteer of the human soul drives a pair, and secondly one of the horses is noble and of noble breed, but the other quite the opposite in breed and character. Therefore in our case the driving is necessarily difficult and troublesome."

Enjoy!
