Gracie Grinter's newest single 'You' you could go as far as to say it is eye jerkingly beautiful. Made solely in her bedroom, she produced and wrote this song in lockdown. In this song, she talks about feelings of reminiscence between a loved one and in her words 'in lockdown I wanted to feel close to someone as I felt so isolated as I'm sure many other people were in lockdown, so I wrote a song about all the memories I had with that person in order for me to feel not so alone, and it turned out as a love song of me professing my love to that particular person.' She says the song was inspired by Ben Howards Album 'Every Kingdom' as her parents used to play it to her a lot as a kid, and also the new rising indie/alt artist, Beabadoobee, and her more soft acoustic songs which are raw and down to earth just like Gracie's.
Throughout lockdown she worked on her production techniques in order to make this beautiful sounding song and also many ways she can promote this to get the best possible outcome. She started off by recording an acoustic guitar and panned 3 takes left right and centre to create that fullness in the mix. This was also a good technique to use in this song in particular as there is only really 3 instruments in the whole song. Then she recorded many layers of vocal and finally make the xylophone synth sound with many layers of octave synths.
Gracie has performed this song many different leading up to the releasing on 30/07/21 including Taunton Pride and busking in Exeter and Bristol, and had a radio interview with BBC Radio Somerset talking about the new release of this song.
I hope you really like the song as much as I do and if you have any more questions don't be afraid to give me a message!!
