this is a gouache and gold acrylic portrait painting depicting resilience. The various colors on her face resembles the good and the bad/light and dark moments she had encountered and overcome. Especially with the year 2021 ending and we are still battling through this pandemic, I wanted to try and depict this portrait with strength and straightforwardness (her direct eye contact with the viewers are meant for shared emotions). Her gold clothes are meant for halo-like representation of light, as we move forward to the new year.
